Emergency Air Ambulance Coverage

In emergency scenarios where treatment is time-sensitive and specialized care is not available, MASA will cover members’ out-of-pocket expenses associated with emergent fixed-wing and rotary aircraft transport. All flights must be ordered by a first responder or transferring physician who deems air transport as medically necessary.

MASA will cover out-of-pocket expenses incurred by ground ambulance transportation services resulting from a serious emergency to the nearest and most appropriate medical facility or suitable airport.

If a member is hospitalized (for 7+ days and more than 100+ miles away from home), MASA will provide a round-trip ticket and taxi expenses (up to $200) for a family member to visit you during your hospital stay.

Repatriation to Hospital Near Home Coverage
If a member is hospitalized 100+ miles from home, MASA covers all out-of-pocket expenses associated with transporting the member to a medical facility near their home to recuperate around family and in familiar surroundings.

Patient Return Transportation Coverage
If an emergency occurs 100+ miles away from home, MASA will cover a Member’s out-of-pocket expenses for a commercial flight back to their place of residence.

If a member utilizes one of our services while a pet is in their possession, we will provide return transportation of the pet to the member’s residence.

Vehicle & RV Return Coverage
In the event a vehicle or RV is left unattended as a result of a Member utilizing MASA’s emergency services, MASA will cover out-of-pocket expenses associated with the return of the vehicle to the member’s residence or the appropriate rental company.

Organ Retrieval & Organ Recipient Transportation
MASA will provide transportation of an organ to be used in an organ transplant or transportation of a Member, Member’s spouse, or other family member or companion in the event of a needed organ transplant procedure.
WORLDWIDE COVERAGE
Mortal Remains Transportation Coverage
In the event a member dies 100+ miles away from his/her place of residence, MASA will cover air transportation costs to return his/her remains to the commercial airport nearest his/her residence.

1Repatriation to Hospital Near Home Coverage, Patient Return Transportation Coverage, and Mortal Remains Transportation Coverage benefits shall extend Worldwide.

Worldwide coverage shall automatically extend to the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean (excluding Cuba), the Bahamas and Bermuda (collectively, “Basic Coverage Area”) (excluding countries referenced on the Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”) countries, and Antarctica), and extend elsewhere contingent upon ten (10) day prior notice of such travel. Notice may be provided by (i) certified mail, return receipt requested, to the MASA Corporate office; (ii) electronic mail, including delivery confirmation; or (iii) facsimile, including confirmation of delivery, and MASA’s written acknowledgment of such notice. Notice must include a travel itinerary of travel destinations and dates. Unless otherwise authorized by MASA in writing, Worldwide coverage shall apply up to ninety (90) days per trip. During the first year of enrollment, Members requiring Worldwide Coverage must pay their membership in full for the first twelve (12) months prior to receiving this benefit.

If a member has a high deductible health plan (“HDHP”) that is compatible with a health savings account (“HSA”), benefits may become available under the MASA membership for expenses incurred for medical care (as defined under Internal Revenue Code(IRC) section 213 (d)) once a member satisfies the applicable statutory minimum deductible under IRC section 223(c) for HDHP coverage that is compatible with a HSA.
